The Red Fox Inn in Bondville turns fifty two years old this year. This property . was purchased in 1960 by a man named Michael Kidd. He had just made his first sizable income as one of Broadway’s first (and very famous) choreographers and he purchased 700 acres of land, part of which was a former sheep farm. He very simply converted it into an inn of sorts, one year before the Stratton Mountain Resort opened. It was named the Red Fox Inn for all the foxes in the neighborhood and it has remained in continuous operation ever since. It was leased by two other parties before the current owners, Tom and Cindy Logan took over in 1984.
The heart of the Red Fox, the signature red barn, with all of its Vermont warmth from oversized stone fireplaces and richness of fine barn board gathered from all over New England with scenic Stratton Mountain as a backdrop, has provided many a meal, many a bed, many a friend and many of life’s best memories. From baby showers to funerals and everything in between, the Red Fox quickly became a true core of the community with many fine traditions. Just to mention a few, Vermont’s oldest and biggest St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Annual Halloween Party, Ladies Night, Open Mic, Annual staff trips to Fenway, Colorful slideshows, Apple pie and Whole belly fried clams. The Red Fox is also known for its commitment to delivering some of the best live music on the planet.
